· Data analysis. WEGO software allows you to analyze the data logged by the WEGO unit, not just print out a chart display. You can display and print out the required fuel correction (in percent) based on the AFR target value you select. You can then copy and paste this fuel correction data from the WEGO software to an Excel spreadsheet and then copy and paste from the Excel spreadsheet into your engine mapping software. No other system offers this capability.

The WEGO III is a third generation product that utilizes the proven Bosch LSU 4.2 wide-band exhaust gas oxygen sensor.  

By utilizing miniature surface mount electronics technology, digital signal processing techniques, and a switching power supply for the sensor heater, the WEGO III provides the same level of accuracy as lab systems costing thousands of dollars.

All WEGO systems provide quick and easy at-a-glance verification and adjustment of the sensor free-air calibration. This allows the WEGO to maintain  accuracy as the sensor ages and maximizes sensor life in racing applications where the sensor may be exposed to leaded fuels.

Flex Fuel Sensor Display (WEGO III Dual Channel Only)

The WEGO III dual channel unit has the capability to interface to a customer supplied flex fuel sensor and display 0-100% ethanol content. A switch under the sensor 2 LED allows selection of normal AFR display or percent ethanol display. Data logging for wide-band oxygen sensor 2 is not interrupted when percent ethanol display mode is selected. The WEGO wire harness includes a connector for the flex fuel sensor. The WEGO unit is compatible with Continental® flex fuel sensors P/N 1312202158 (short fuel lines) or P/N 1218601076 (long fuel lines). These sensors correspond to GM P/Ns 13577379 or 13577394. A minor modification is required to cut off two keying tabs at sides of the connector (white arrows in figure below).

Data Logging Software

The WEGO features data logging and includes a built-in USB interface for easy connection to newer laptop PCs. This data logging capability greatly facilitates engine tuning and diagnosis of driveability issues. WEGO units start logging data once the sensors have warmed up (typically 15 seconds). The single channel WEGO stores the last 8000 samples in non-volatile memory. This allows storage ranging from 13 minutes at 10 samples/second to over 2 hours at 1 sample/second. The dual channel WEGO stores the last 12000 samples in non-volatile memory. This allows storage ranging from 20 minutes at 10 samples/second to over 3 hours at 1 sample/second. You can use our software to view data in real time or download and display data on a chart recorder type screen. Available data includes air/fuel ratio (AFR), RPM, and a 0-5V analog input.  The RPM input can be connected to a tachometer signal or directly driven from an ignition coil. RPM data is correctly scaled and displayed for 1-12 cylinder engines.

The data logging software runs under Microsoft Windows XP/Vista/7/8/10. We no longer support older Windows versions. Minimum PC requirement is a 300 MHz Pentium with super VGA display (SVGA with 1024 x 768 pixel resolution). WEGO units connect to the PC by means of a USB interface. A USB cable is supplied with the unit. The PC must have a free USB port. If you have an older PC without USB capability, you cannot use the WEGO. For more detailed product information, we suggest that you download the software and instructions. The software download includes a sample file with actual data.

WEGO units can be programmed to display Lambda or correct AFR values for any hydrocarbon fuel with a known stoichiometric ratio. Regardless of the units displayed on the WEGO, data is logged internally in Lambda units and can be rescaled in the software for any fuel type. Refer to the software instructions for details.

Fuel Type Selection

You can also setup the scaling and units display for the 0-5V analog input. Selections are available for standard Delphi/GM 1 bar, 2 bar, and 3 bar manifold pressure (MAP) sensors. Most GM vehicles and all Harley-Davidson® motorcycles with Twin-Cam 88® engines use Delphi 1 bar type MAP sensors. Delphi/GM 2 bar and 3 bar MAP sensors are often used with aftermarket engine controls for turbo/supercharger applications. For other sensors, you can enter the minimum and maximum input voltages and corresponding scaled values displayed on the chart along with the desired chart legend.

Analog Input Scaling

When the engine is running, you can display real time data on an instrument panel type layout with a round tach gauge and bar graph type gauges for most other parameters. Diagnostic codes are displayed in an additional window.

Real Time Data Display (Dual Channel Unit)

Data downloaded from the WEGO is displayed on a chart recorder type screen. You can select two parameters for display. Trace 1 is displayed in red with its Y axis legends on the left side of the chart. Trace 2 is displayed in green with its Y axis legends on the right side of the chart. The X axis is always elapsed time. You can zoom in, zoom out, or zoom all (displays entire data file). At the maximum zoom in level, approximately 100 data samples will be displayed on the chart. You can use the scroll bar to move the chart display window in terms of elapsed time.

AFR Data Analysis

AFR (air/fuel ratio) table display is only possible when both engine RPM and correctly scaled throttle position sensor (TPS) data has been logged from a fuel injected vehicle. The table format is intended to match the RPM rows and TPS columns used by many industry standard engine mapping systems. The figure below shows logged AFR data.

You can also display and print out the required fuel correction (in percent) based on the AFR target value you select. You can add data from an unlimited number of files that you previously saved. The data will be analyzed and incorporated into the table. Cells that vary more than ±0.5 AFR from the command value are shaded blue for rich or red for lean.

 

Fuel Correction Display

You can use two approaches to make the required corrections in the your engine mapping software. If you have Microsoft Office with Excel, you can directly copy and paste data from the WEGO software to an Excel spreadsheet and then copy and paste from the Excel spreadsheet into the engine mapping software. In the WEGO software, you can select a range of cells with the mouse and right click to bring up a copy menu. You can also left click on the upper left legend cell to select the entire table and then right click to bring up the copy menu. Alternately, you can manually enter the required corrections in your engine mapping software by referring to the printed fuel percent correction table and marking off cells as you edit them. Lambda Display

The location of the decimal point on the WEGO LED display is set during manufacturing and cannot be changed. Standard WEGO units display AFR values with XX.X number format, such as AFR values from 10.3-19.5 for gasoline or 4.5-8.6 for methanol. Special WEGO units are available for Lambda display with X.XX number format, i.e. Lambda values from 0.70-1.33.

Special Applications

We offer dual channel WEGO IIID units intended for connection to an existing data acquisition system for dyno test lab or professional racing use. We also offer WEGO IV single and dual channel units in an aluminum housing suitable for dyno test lab use. The WEGO IIID  units do not include an LED display or any internal data logging capability. They have a 0-5V analog AFR output. The analog output is linearly scaled with 0V=10.0 AFR and 5V=20.0 AFR (the useful range is 10.3 to 19.5 AFR) and is compatible with industry standard 0-5V analog inputs on most data acquisition systems. The WEGO IIID is also used with our TCFI fuel injection controllers. The WEGO IV series have the same features and capabilities as the WEGO III except that they are packaged in a very compact aluminum housing and intended for dyno lab applications. Dynojet® Dyno Interface

You can easily interface any of the WEGO systems to a Dynojet® dyno equipped with the Dynojet® analog module. If you interface the WEGO IIID, you can display and chart two channels of AFR data along with the other dyno data in the Dynojet® WinPEP® software. SuperFlow® Dyno Interface Kit

We sell a complete kit intended for easy hookup to a SuperFlow® dyno that was previously equipped with Innovate® LM-1 wide-band exhaust gas oxygen sensor interfaces. The kit includes a WEGO IIID dual channel wide-band exhaust gas oxygen sensor interface, two Bosch LSU 4.2 wide-band sensors, two custom length sensor extension cables, and power supply.   Using our dual channel WEGO and an Edelbrock QwikData„˘ data acquisition system, J&P Cycles® just set a new national AMA speed record of 179.940 MPH in the 1350cc pushrod gas class at the 3rd annual Bub® International Land Speed Trials (September 2006 at the Bonneville Salt Flats Speedway).

 

  At the 2nd AHDRA 2007 Screamin' Eagle National Event at Firebird International Raceway in Phoenix, Desert Dawg Greg Krenik set a new AHDRA Pro Modified national record with an 8.815 ET. Greg uses the WEGO to tune his bike in practice and the results speak for themselves.

 

  Jeannie Pflum of Performance Solutions just set a new 1000cc Production record at the 2010 SCTA World Finals at Bonneville with a 196.476 MPH pass. Performance Solutions uses the WEGO III for tuning.

 

Exhaust Sniffers 

WEGO units can be used with exhaust sniffers that allow temporary installation on most motorcycles for tuning and diagnostic purposes. Jims (www.jimsusa.com) offers an exhaust sniffer, P/N 777, suitable for use with the WEGO. 2010 and later H-D® touring models are equipped with miniature 12mm oxygen sensors. The Bosch LSU 4.2 wide-band oxygen sensors used with the WEGO series are 18mm and will not fit. Smaller wide-band sensors are not available. However, there is a solution. Bay Area Performance Cycles (Phone: 650-969-0372) sells an oxygen sensor manifold kit that allows easy installation of Bosch LSU 4.2 wide-band sensors on any exhaust system for testing purposes. The process involves drilling small holes and using a special tool to install threaded fittings for the sensor manifolds. After testing, button head stainless steel screws are installed in place of the sensor manifolds and the heat shields are reinstalled.

Lascar Electronics (www.lascarelectronics.com) offers a wide variety of inexpensive programmable displays with analog inputs that are compatible with our WEGO series. The customer can easily program an almost infinite combination of styles, legends, colors, and ranges using their free PanelPilot software. Prices start at under $100.00. Dash Mount Displays 

Looking for a single or dual channel dash mount display to use with your WEGO system? VEI Systems sells single and dual channel displays that are compatible with the 0-5 volt output of our WEGO systems. These displays will read out directly in AFR units.
